Press Release on the increase in Domestic Abuse figures reported by Police Scotland

A statement from the CEO of Glasgow Women’s Aid, Angela Devine on the figures released by Police Scotland on 11/12/24 showing 20,271 reported crimes of domestic abuse between April and September – a rise of 11%:

surprised by these figures, we know that most domestic
abuse incidents go unreported, so these statistics only scratch the surface of
the true scale of the problem. This increase represents not only the courage of
survivors coming forward but also a growing demand for our services, which are
already under significant strain“
