Statement on the guilty verdicts in the Pelicot mass rape trial.

19 December 2024
Dominique Pelicot has been jailed for 20 years for drugging his wife and recruiting strangers to rape and sexually assault her for years. Fifty other men have been sentenced along side him.
Gisele Pelicot has demonstrated remarkable courage and resilience by coming forward and waiving her right to anonymity in pursuit of justice. In doing so, she has not only shown immense strength but has also given a powerful voice to survivors everywhere.
Her bravery in sharing her story will undoubtedly inspire others to speak out and shines a crucial light on the need for continued support, awareness, and systemic change.
We commend her for her bravery and stand with her as she advocates for accountability and justice.
We also want women to know we, at Glasgow Women’s Aid, are here to listen to and believe women who choose to come forward to report domestic abuse.
We will listen to you. We believe you. We will support you.
