The recent report Domestic abuse recorded by the police in Scotland, 2023-24 indicating a 3% increase in domestic abuse incidents in Scotland is a sobering reminder of the urgent need for both prevention and support. We are also know that many incidents of domestic abuse go unreported so the true number may be much higher.

At Glasgow Women’s Aid, we are deeply committed to addressing this issue through a dual approach: providing immediate support to women and children experiencing abuse and delivering prevention-focused education to stop abuse.

For those currently experiencing abuse, we offer a range of compassionate and practical support services. This includes crisis support, safe refuge accommodation, emotional support, and guidance through complex legal and housing systems. Our team works tirelessly to ensure that every woman and child we support has access to the help they need to rebuild their lives.

By supporting survivors and preventing abuse at its roots, we are working towards a future where every woman and child in Glasgow can live free from fear and abuse.

Our prevention efforts are equally vital. Through school-based programmes, we educate young people about respect, equality, and consent, laying the foundation for healthier relationships

Our Enough!! project, tailored for young women aged 13-21, is a key part of our outreach work. It empowers young women with the knowledge to recognise abusive behaviours, build confidence, and form safe and healthy connections

Our prevention work continues in our local community where we deliver domestic abuse training and awareness raising to organisations and members of the public

By supporting survivors and preventing abuse at its roots, we are working towards a future where every woman and child in Glasgow can live free from fear and abuse.
