Glasgow Women’s Aid team up with Glasgow City FC to launch ‘He Loves Me Not’ Campaign.

12 February 2025
Glasgow Women’s Aid have teamed up with the women of Glasgow City Football Club to launch our new Valentine’s Day Campaign – ‘He Loves Me Not’.
“Partnering with Glasgow Women’s Aid on their ”He Loves Me Not” campaign not only strengthens our partnership with a local charity that puts these groups at the heart of what they do, but it also reinforces our message that there is no excuse for violence against women and girls. “
– Laura Montgomery, Chief Executive Glasgow City FC
The campaign looks to highlight the dangers of ‘love’ being used to mask controlling and abusive behaviour. The campaign challenges the traditional notions of love and romance, highlighting how these ideals can be manipulated to mask coercive control.
While Valentine’s Day is often portrayed as a celebration of love, for many of the women we support, it is a painful reminder of the ways in which love has been used as a tool for control, manipulation, and abuse.
Glasgow City FC Chief Executive Laura Montgomery said: ”The responsibility to use our platform to highlight issues that affect women and girls is one we take seriously. Partnering with Glasgow Women’s Aid on their ”He Loves Me Not” campaign not only strengthens our partnership with a local charity that puts these groups at the heart of what they do, but it also reinforces our message that there is no excuse for violence against women and girls. We will continue to strive for a fairer and safer world for all.”
Glasgow Women’s Aid Chief Executive, Angela Devine said “The partnership between Glasgow Women’s Aid and Glasgow City FC for the “He Loves Me Not” campaign is a powerful statement of solidarity and shared commitment to combat violence against women and girls. By harnessing the visibility of Glasgow City FC, ‘The original trailblazers for women and girls in football’, we can raise much-needed awareness and reinforce the message that there is no justification for abuse.”
